Who we are

We are independent agents established in the Portuguese Market for three generations, since the beginning of Steel Trading activity in our country. This long time experience, together with a permanent business intelligence activity, gave us a deep knowledge on the market and an adequate understanding of the products. In the early 2000’s we began to expand our markets to our neighbor countries namely Western Europe and North Africa as well as to Portuguese language countries such as Brazil and Angola.

By working with professionalism, Europontex has established significant bridges* between worldwide suppliers and local customers. We have introduced several world players into the market, such as "La Magona d'Italia Spa" (ARCELOR/MITTAL) for Tin Plate, Aluzinc, Hot Dipped Galvanized, Prepainted, and ”Lucchini Spa” (SEVERSTAL) for Wire rods, Merchant Bars, Profiles, Special Steel Bars, Bright Bars, Reinforcing bars, etc.

Although we are in position to sell the common steels (commodities), we have been able to introduce innovative products in the market, such as products associated with the new technologies, this way showing to customers the advantages to replace their regular raw materials for new-sophisticated solutions which are a better answer their needs, giving them free time to focus on the design, production and marketing of their own products.

Nowadays, we deal with all range of steel (and alloys) products (long or flat), rising to 200,000 metric tons a year for consumption in Portugal. We also deal with stock lots and overruns. In particular we are the leading importer for Wire Products and Fixing Materials (some 110,000 ton. per year).
